Learn moreEffective July 1, 2017, all new residential construction must pass a mandatory blower door test before a Certificate of Occupancy is issued. A calibrated fan mounts in an exterior doorway and depressurizes the home to 50 pascals — the equivalent of a 20 mph wind on all sides — so we can measure exactly how much air leaks through the building envelope.
Duct leak testing is required in many Florida counties for new construction — specifically whenever anything other than "Default Leakage" is specified in your R405 Energy Calculation. We seal the supplies and grills, attach a calibrated fan to the main return, and pressurize the duct system to 25 pascals to measure exactly how tight your ductwork is.
